CPT Jeffrey J. Vones served as an infantry officer in the United States Army for over 14 years in both active and reserve status. He completed 2 combat tours in Iraq in 2004 and 2009 as well as serving in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

In 2004, CPT Vones deployed to the Diyala Province of Iraq as an Infantry Platoon Leader. His unit captured several known insurgents and destroyed numerous enemy weapons caches. His unit also secured key infrastructure and interdicted weapons smuggling operations across the national border.

In 2005, CPT Vones deployed to New Orleans, LA in support of Hurricane Katrina relief operations. In 2006, he served in Yuma, AZ in support of the US Border Security mission.

In 2009, CPT Vones served as Company Commander of a 171-man mechanized infantry unit performing combat operations in Baghdad, Iraq. He was responsible for 1/5 of urban Baghdad with a civilian population of 1.2 million people. He commanded a joint operational base in urban Baghdad inhabited by US and Iraqi Forces. He planned, conducted, and supervised over 500 joint combat missions to secure the population and capture known insurgents.

CPT Vones is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and the US Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, GA. He is a recipient of the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
